Assistant Professor – Hawaii Community Reinvestment Corporation (HCRC) Distinguished Professorship in Affordable Housing.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) and the University of Hawai‘i Economic Research Organization (UHERO) in the Social Science Research Institute of the College of Social Sciences, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (Honolulu, Hawai’i) invite applicants for a joint appointment between DURP (75% FTE) and UHERO (25% FTE) at the Assistant Professor (I-3) level with the locus of tenure in DURP. This is a 9-month, full-time, permanent, tenure track position to begin August 1, 2024, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. Duties and responsibilities include developing a research agenda in the area of housing policy, planning, and economics with a focus on affordability; publishing scholarly, peer-reviewed research; seeking extramural funding to support this research agenda; providing independent thought and leadership on affordable housing topics and delivering research results and policy implications to stakeholders, the broader community, policymakers and planners; and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on housing policy and planning, urban economics, and research methods in DURP.
