Native forests provide a variety of ecological, cultural, and economic benefits. UHERO environment has worked with decision makers in various contexts to evaluate the economic benefits of native forest protection and restoration, primarily through a focus on groundwater recharge. This has been done in the context of land-use planning, calculating a return on investment of conservation, and spatial targeting of conservation actions. See a summary of UHERO research here.
